The United States Flag and K-W-L Chart!

This week, in Social Studies, we have been learning about the United States Flag! We also learned how to complete a K-W-L Chart!
Below, Ms. Stowe reviews what is written on our K-W-L Chart! The first column represents what we already know about the U.S. Flag. The second column represents what we want to learn about the U.S. Flag. After filling out the second column, we watched a video and read a story about the U.S. Flag. The third column represents what we learned about the U.S. Flag.

Joyria was the teacher's helper during this lesson. While Ms. Malcom took pictures, Ms. Stowe and Joyria pointed out different things about our flag. We learned that the flag is red, white, and blue!

Enoch came to the front of the room to point out that our flag had stripes!

La'Shawn pointed out, to the class, that our flag had stars!

We learned so much about our flag. We learned that we make a promise to our flag and country by saying the "Pledge of Allegiance". We also learned who wrote the "Pledge of Allegiance". Below, Ms. Higdon completes the last column of our K-W-L Chart, representing what we learned about the flag!

This was a great lesson and the students learned a lot from it!
