Our 1st CBI Trip- Tennis!

Last week, we went on our 1st CBI Trip. We went to City Pond to play tennis and enjoy a nice picnic. We had so much fun!

We began with a nice stretch! LOL!

Then, it was time to play!

Mrs. Stowe, whistle and all, was our tennis instructor. She took her job very seriously! Ha! Ha!

After we worked up an appetite, we enjoyed a nice picnic by the lake!

We also got to feed the ducks!

After lunch, we played a little more tennis!

I would have to say that this was one of my all-time favorite CBI trips. The weather was perfect and we all really enjoyed the day. We now have some AWESOME tennis players!

Cool Dog!

On this day, we had a very special visitor. This very talented dog works at the airport!

She showed us lots of cool tricks! She gave "high fives" and played dead!

We really enjoyed her visit. She was a cool dog!

Learning to Read!

We have been working so hard to learn how to read. We add new words to our word wall every week and practice them every day!

On this day, I asked Draylan, Lynec, and Mettano to go review their high-frequency words while we had a second between subjects. I was so happy to look over to see that they were working so hard. They were working together and acting like little teachers! It made my heart smile!

Their hard work in class is definitely paying off. They are just too precious!

Learning about Georgia and a Special Visit!

Learning about the state of Georgia was so much fun!

We learned about our state capital, state flag, state flower, state bird, state song, etc. We also got to taste peaches and peanuts!

On the same day, we had a very special visit. Mrs. Stowe's sisters, Ms. Lee and Ms. Jerri, and Mrs. Stowe's husband, Mr. John, came to visit. Ms. Lee is from Connecticut. She brought a book to add to our class library and many prizes for our prize box. Ms. Jerri brought one of our favorite dogs, Spike, to visit.

We added our new friends to our "So long, Farewell" goodbye song!  :-)

Mrs. Stowe with her sisters and Spike!

Thanks so much Ms. Jerri for always coming to visit and for bringing Spike for us to play with. Thank you Ms. Lee for taking time to visit us all the way from Connecticut and for your contributions to our classroom library and prize box. Thanks to Mr. John for taking time, on his day off, to visit our classroom.
It's so nice to have such a wonderful support system for our class. These people, along with many others, love our students as much as we do. We are a lucky group!

9/11 Ceremony!

On September 11th our school had a beautiful ceremony to remember those whose lives were lost or changed on September 11th, 2001. On this day in history, America was forever changed by the attack on the World Trade Centers and Pentagon.

Two of our boys (Draylan and Tony) were an integral part of the ceremony. They were members of the flag team and assisted the ROTC, from Newton High School, with raising the flag!

The morning couldn't have been any more beautiful!

At the ceremony, we honored many service men. These people included policemen, firemen, and members of our military!

Mrs. Courter's Kindergarten class performed the Pledge of Allegiance in sign language!

The flag was put up and lowered to half staff!

Tony and Draylan did a wonderful job. They had to perform in front of the entire school. They were respectful and took their duty very seriously. Way to go boys!

God Bless America, land that we love!
Thank you to all of our service men and women who protect us each and every day. A special THANK YOU to Eliana's Uncle, Boom-Boom (policeman), Erica's mother, Mrs. Coard (military), and Erica's father, Mr. Coard (fireman). We appreciate your hard work and service!
