Fun Fantastic Friday- Ice Cream in a Bag!

For last week's Fun Fantastic Friday activity we made ice cream in a bag (Mrs. Higdon's idea)! I must admit that I didn't think it would actually work, but it did! It was good too!
Santoes was the "Class STARfish" last week, so he was the Fun Fantastic Friday helper as well!

Santoes waiting to help Mrs. Higdon with the activity. He loved his outfit!

After giving everyone their bags (one big one and one little one), Santoes came around and gave everyone some sugar to put in their little ziploc bags!

Everyone also needed some milk!

Can't forget the vanilla!

Santoes was in charge of putting ice in everyone's big bag! He loved this and giggled every time he "accidently" missed the bag!

Last, but not least, ice cream salt was added to everyone's big bag!

Now, it was time to shake, shake, shake! This was a favorite part of the activity for many!

Shake, shake, shake!

We were so excited to see that we actually made our own ice cream! Joyria couldn't wait to taste it!

It was soooo cold!

Eliana loved it!

We loved our ice cream so much that we decided to make some for our Principal and Assistant Principals too! Below, Santoes was excited to share his ice cream with Dr. McClain (one of our wonderful Assistant Principals)!

Santoes was also excited to share some ice cream with our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Newman!

Overall, it was another wonderful Fun Fantastic Friday! Thanks Mrs. Higdon for planning such a wonderful activity!

...And the Trophy is Passed!

When it was time for Mrs. Higdon to give up her Employee of the Moment trophy, there was no better person to pass it to than our wonderful Speech Language Pathologist, Mrs. Chappell!
We greatly appreciate all that Mrs. Chappell does for our students each day. She is always so kind, patient, and wonderful with all of them and they look forward to going to Speech when it is their turn!

Thank you Mrs. Chappell! You are definitely the Employee of the Moment!

Class STARfish!

After much consideration, we have decided to change the name of our weekly top student from the "Top Tuna" to the "Class STARfish"! One student is chosen, per week, to be the "Class STARfish". This student is chosen because he/ she has demonstrated excellent behavior as well as worked hard in class! The "Class STARfish" assists the teacher all week and during the Fun Fantastic Friday activity!
I would like to congratulate ENOCH EDWARDS for being chosen as the "Class STARfish" last week (our first "Class STARfish" of the year)! We are so proud of you ENOCH!

And.... this week's "Class STARfish" is...............

SANTOES CARTER!!!!

Way to Go Santoes! Keep up the good work!

Special Olympics Skating!

On Tuesday, we had our first Special Olympics Skating event of the year!
Below, is a class picture at the skating rink!

DeAsia is such a great skater! She loves it!

La'Shawn stops to smile for the camera!

Uh-Oh! I was so proud of Tony! Everytime he fell, he got right back up and kept going!

Teaching DeAsia how to "toe stop" (stop her skates using her the rubber piece on the toe)!
Lucy learning to "toe stop"!

Santoes had so much fun! He is so funny on skates!

Joyria and Lucy worked hard and never stopped!

Ms. Malcom helped Eliana out on the floor! Wow! That was a workout! :0)

La'Shawn worked so hard to push himself around the skating rink! He would occasionally stop to dance to the music!

Tony LOVED skating!

Enoch and Santoes were quite determined to improve their skating skills! They worked very hard!

We were all excited to see Mrs. Mangum (Tony's mother) there! Thanks for coming and supporting us Mrs. Mangum!

Our first day of skating was a success! Four more to go!

Fun Fantastic Friday #2!

Mrs. Stowe was in charge of last week's Fun Fantastic Friday. The activity that she chose was to make necklaces out of colored macaroni necklaces! What a wonderful idea and a great way to review our colors.
Tony was so excited about preparing for this activity (as you can tell by the look on his face). He was responsible for coloring his noodles BLUE, using food coloring!

Santoes was responsible for coloring his noodles RED!

Lucy and La'Shawn were responsible for coloring their noodles YELLOW and GREEN!

Lucy worked really hard and had some beautiful yellow noodles in the end!

La'Shawn and Mrs. Stowe worked together to prepare the green noodles!

We were, once again, excited about our Fun Fantastic Friday activity. Since Enoch was chosen as the class STARfish (previously named the Top Tuna), he was chosen as Mrs. Stowe's assistant!

Enoch loved his "assistant" outfit and took his job quite seriously!

DeAsia loved this activity and made a beautiful necklace!

Joyria worked hard on her necklace!

Mrs. Higdon's group hard at work!

Eliana loved this activity so much that she even helped Santoes finish his necklace!

Tony attempted to make a pattern with his yellow and red noodles! He was very proud of it!

I LOVE this picture of Enoch and DeAsia! Priceless!

Mrs. Stowe and La'Shawn pose with their necklaces!

There is no better way to end Fun Fantastic Friday than with a BIG smile from Santoes! Success!

Thanks so much Mrs. Stowe for planning such a great Fun Fantastic Friday activity for us! What a wonderful way to review our colors and spend time together!

A Visit from Granny!

Last week, we had a very special visitor. Granny, Ms. Malcom's grandmother, stopped by to meet our students, each lunch with our class, and to see our beautiful classroom. While she was there, she even got to experience one of our fire drills! Ha! Ha! Granny was so impressed with our students and our school! Our students loved her too!

Ms. Malcom is so lucky to have such wonderful family members that love her students as much as she does! We enjoyed your visit Granny! Come back very soon!

Well Deserved!

Last week, the Employee of the Moment trophy was passed on to Mrs. Higdon! This trophy is well deserved. Mrs. Higdon is always so wonderful and patient with our students! She also has a wonderful artistic ability and creativity! Mrs. Higdon, we appreciate all that you do and offer to our classroom/ students!

Congratulations!

A Class Full of FRIENDS!

In Health we have been learning about feelings, respecting others, and friends. Our kids have done such a great job participating in the lessons each day, learning the vocabulary, and using what they have learned in their daily interactions with each other. Today, as an ending activity to the theme, we all made friendship bracelets. Mrs. Malcom brought her fancy bead making kit from home and everyone was given the opportunity to make their bracelets. Ms. Malcom, Mrs. Stowe, and Mrs. Higdon were prepared to help, as needed, because the beads were so small and they were being strung on fishing line. We were so proud to see that none of the students needed our assistance and they all seemed to thoroughly enjoy the activity!
DeAsia (below) LOVED making her bracelet. She was focused and so serious the entire time!

Enoch worked very hard and made a beautiful bracelet!

This was Eliana's kind of activity. Each student was also given a seashell to place on their bracelets to represent our current classroom theme (Under the Sea)!

Lucy also made a beautiful bracelet!

Friendship bracelet making is serious business to Enoch! Ha! Ha!

Even Ms. Malcom joined the fun and had a blast!

In traditional DeAsia style, she had to give Ms. Malcom a huge hug!

We've always "preached" that we are friends with everyone in our class! Ms. Malcom, Mrs. Higdon, and Mrs. Stowe make it a point to model respectful, friendly social interactions with each other so that our students will do the same! What a wonderful group of friends we are! I can say we all truly enjoy one another! The picture below is one of my favorite. Its of all of our friendship bracelets!

...because we're the best of friends!!
