CBI Trip to the Public Library and El Charros!

Last Thursday, we had a CBI trip planned to go to the park and to El Charros Mexican Restaurant for lunch. It was soooo cold, so we decided to go to the public library before lunch instead of the park!

We had lots of fun picking from the thousands of books available!

We all gathered and read what we picked out!

After leaving the library, we headed over to El Charros for a yummy lunch!

Someone got their belly full and couldn't take anymore. LOL!

Happy Thanksgiving!

On the Wednesday before we got out for Thanksgiving break, we had our Annual Thanksgiving lunch at school! In traditional fashion, we decorated our room and invited some very special people to have lunch with us in our room. Draylan was so sweet and made special notes (like the one below) for each of our visitors!

Baby Judd (Ms. Malcom's nephew) made it to his first Thanksgiving lunch. Eliana loved him! I think the feeling was mutual!

Ms. Kelli (Ms. Malcom's sister) made a friend in Mettano!

This is Baby Blair's third Thanksgiving lunch with our class. Baby Blair is Ms. Malcom's niece. Draylan acted like her big brother this year. She loved the attention!

Mr. John (Mrs. Stowe's husband) made it too!

Mrs. Nancy (Tony's mom) came by to have lunch with us!

Every group had their own little seating arrangements. The students made name tags for everyone who attended. We were happy to have Santoes' Mom and Granny join us as well!

Mrs. LaVerne and Ms. Brittany (our Occupational Therapists) ate lunch with us too. Eliana and Mettano enjoyed having them at their table!

Mrs. Stowe's group!

Ms. Malcom's group!

Santoes loved the entire lunch!

Baby Judd loved the green beans!

Mr. John and Draylan!

Sweet Lynec!

Tanayry was a huge fan of the icecream!

Santoes with his Mom and Granny. He loved having them there with us!

After lunch, we all stood up and said what we were thankful for. Ms. Malcom said that she was thankful for all of her students!

I absolutely love this picture of Tony and his Mom. So sweet!

Ms. Malcom playing with Eliana!

Every year, it is tradition that Mr. John reads us a Thanksgiving story!

Then, of course we sang our turkey song. Blair led it this year!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from our class! I think we would all agree that we are so thankful to have our education, a place to go to school each day, and the friends we have made!

Ms. Malcom's Teacher of the Year Reception!

On October 25th, Ms. Malcom had her Teacher of the Year Reception!

Ms. Malcom got a plaque for being selected Teacher of the Year for South Salem Elementary!

She received a crystal vase, $250 Kroger gift card, plaque, and gift basket for being selected as one of the 3 Finalist for Newton County!

Mrs. Roberts, Ms. Malcom's 4th grade teacher, was able to make it to the reception. She still had a letter, after all this time, that Ms. Malcom wrote to her when she was in 4th grade. How sweet!

Ms. Malcom had lots of family and friends there. Some of her past and previous students (Below- Lexi, Lucy, and Tony) came to cheer her on!

Big hugs for Lexi!

Talking to Lucy!

Mrs. Stowe and Mr. John came to the reception too!

This man was one of the judges that read Ms. Malcom's essays, asked Ms. Malcom questions during her interview, and visited our class for Ms. Malcom's observation. He was so sweet and came up to Ms. Malcom after the reception. He said that he absolutely loved visiting our classroom. He said that we really touched his heart. Of course, Ms. Malcom welcomed him back!  :-)

Ms. Stowe, Ms. Malcom, and Mr. John!

Congratulations Ms. Malcom!

Pen Pals!

Ms. Malcom has a childhood friend that teaches at a private school in Murfreeboro, Tennessee. She set it up for us to become pen pals with a few students from her friend's classroom. Lynec, Eliana, Draylan, and Tony have been working so hard, since the first day of school, on their handwriting skills. Last week, they wrote and sent their first letters to their new pen pals. They wrote them a letter, drew them a picture that went along with their letter, and sent a picture of themselves!

Although some were reluctant, they learned that licking their envelopes was very important so that they remained closed during mailing!

They also learned how to address an envelope so that it reaches it's destination!

Now we sit back and wait for a response from our new friends from Tennessee!  :-)
