Presents, Presents, and MORE Presents!

Our students are truly loved by many! On the last day before the Winter break, they went home with a bagful of goodies!
From their teachers, the girls got spiral wands. The boys got golf sets! I must say that if we would have gotten everyone spiral wands, everyone would have been happy. They were quite a hit! Ha! Ha!

Mrs. Thomas, one of our all-time favorite substitutes, came by to visit! Our class gave her a gift because she is a very special friend to us!

Mrs. Stowe loved handing out goodies to all of our students!

Tyler and Mrs. Holland had a blast opening his gifts!

More presents! The look on Aaron's face is priceless! What a joy it is to see the holidays through the eyes of a child!

Thanks so much to everyone who thought of our students during this holiday season! We truly appreciate all of you! Mrs. Holland, Mrs. Higdon, Mrs. Stowe, and I would also like to say a special THANK YOU to those of you that thought of us! We didn't send agendas home on the last day of school so we didn't get the opportunity to say THANK YOU! Your kindness was greatly appreciate and we love you all!

Party Time!

We have worked so hard for the past couple of weeks. We were so excited to take a break and have our holiday party!
At our party we had lots of goodies! We had mini BBQ sausages, chips and dip, drinks, and much more! Below are a few pictures from our party!

Aaron's mom, Mrs. Elgy, came to our party! Mrs. Elgy has always taken the time to speak to and get to know all of our students! It was great to have her there!

Tyler really enjoyed the party! This boy loves to eat!

Mrs. Higdon was too cute in her reindeer decor!

I didn't take too many pictures because we were all busy eating! Ha! Ha! We did have a wonderful time though!

Special Holiday Visitors!

On Friday, December 18th (the last day of school before the holiday break) we had many special visitors! Mrs. Stowe worked really hard to prepare for this day and asked several people from around the school to come in and share a holiday song with our class! Thank you so much Mrs. Stowe for all of your hard work to make this day so wonderful for us!
Mr. Kline (a 3rd grade teacher) came to share some very special songs with our class. He sang "Chesnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" (I can't remember the actual name of the song). He also sang a traditional Hanukkah song! The students loved listening to Mr. Kline sing! Thank you Mr. Kline for taking time out of your day to spend with us!

Mrs. Sheppard (our Speech paraprofessional) also came by. DeAsia loves Mrs. Sheppard and helped her sing her solo to the class! Thank you so much Mrs. Sheppard!

Ms. Charlie, our wonderful custodian, came by to sing "Jingle Bells" to our class. She even brought her daughter! Thanks Charlie!

Mr. Michael (a paraprofessional at our school and one of our special friends) and Ms. Michelle (our head custodian) came by to share a special song with us! Thank you both!

Ms. Jodi (one of our special friends that helps in our class often) came by to sing "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear". Ms. Jodi has a beautiful voice! Thanks Ms. Jodi for sharing your talent with us!

Ms. Mary (one of our cafeteria workers) also sang "Jingle Bells". Thanks so much Ms. Mary!

Lauren (a 2nd grade student at our school) came in to sing a song using the Karaoke machine! She did a great job! Thanks so much for sharing your song with us Lauren! While Lauren was singing, Ms. Mask (the PE paraprofessional who is also Lauren's mother), Coach Sloop (the PE coach), and Mrs. Dubois (our principal) visited as well!

Mrs. Watson (a teacher at our school who is also DeAsia's auntie) also stopped by to share a song with us! Thanks Mrs. Watson!

This day was so special to us! We got to share it with many great friends! I am so blessed to belong to a school faculty that is so involved in the lives and education of my students! I appreciate all of the love and friendship that they show to everyone in our class! Thanks to all who participated in making this such a great day! We love you all!

Celebrations Around the World!

For the past couple of weeks, we have been studying CELEBRATIONS AROUND THE WORLD! Each student created their own "passport". As we learned about celebrations from around the world, they were given "stamps" to place on their "passports"!

We learned about Hanukkah and even created menorahs!

We learned about Kwanzaa and created kinaras!

We learned about the importance of poinsetta flowers to Christmas in Mexico. We also had chips and salsa to celebrate Feliz Navidad! We made "maracas" for this celebration and danced around to the song "Feliz Navidad"!

Below are pictures of a few of the students placing their "stamps" on their "passports"!

We had a great time learning about the different holiday celebrations around the world!
For the last couple of days, before the Winter break, we learned about Christmas and shared the ways that our own families celebrate the holidays! What a wonderful way to begin the holiday season!

Learning to use Graphic Organizers!

In Reading Skills & Comprehension, we have been learning how to use graphic organizers. On this day, we read a story about an old man and woman that couldn't get any sleep. They visited a village elder who gave them advice on how to get Peace and Quiet in their house. Finally, the man and woman were able to get some sleep. After reading the story, we broke up into groups and used a plot circle to retell the story. Each group, upon completing their graphic organizer, was required to come to the front of the class and retell the story. All three groups did a great job!

Way to Go!
