Bar Graphs and Venn Diagrams!

So, this week we have been working on bar graphs and Venn diagrams. Below, are some pictures of our hard work! The first picture is of Santoes! Our bar graph represented our favorite animals (dogs, cats, or horses). Santoes chose a cat as his favorite animal!

Joyria also chose a cat as her favorite animal!

DeAsia also chose a cat!! I must say that our class is full of cat lovers!

After creating our graph, we interpreted it by determining which category had more and less votes. Of course, the cat category won! Thanks Lucy for counting our cat votes!

Creating a Venn diagram was a lot of fun! All of our students did an EXCELLENT job with the Venn diagram that we made! We discussed animals that live in land, water, or both!

Santoes is our newest student! He moved into our class last Monday! We have greatly enjoyed this past week with him and welcome him to our class!

Other Fun Pictures From This Week!

Next week is Exceptional Children's Week so we are making very special pins for all of the staff members at our school. We painted lots of puzzle pieces. We will show you the finished product next week after we give them to them!

Everyone student in our school adores Coach Sloop (our PE coach)! Coach Sloop is so wonderful to our students. There is always a smile on their faces when he stops to say "hey" to them!

Santoes (our new friend) has learned so much already. One thing he has learned is that we raise our hand if we have something to say. He raised his hand all week, we would praise him, and he would just smile!

Letter Zz Show and Tell!

Today's letter Zz Show and Tell was so much fun! I was so surprised by how creative our students and their parents were with this Show and Tell. I must say that I didn't expect anyone to bring anything because it is so difficult to think of things that begin with the letter Zz. However, our student greatly exceeded my expectations!

Hard At Work!

We have had a very busy week! This week, we got together with students from Ms. Frix's 3rd grade class in our school computer lab. We chose an animal and, with assistance from our friends in Ms. Frix's class, researched the animal that we chose on the Internet. Some pictures are below!

Enoch had a great time with his partners! On several occasions he lounged back, assuming that his partners had it all under control. Ha! Ha!

Lucy researched the zebra. Lucy loves horses. The zebra was the closest that we could find! After researching their animal, each student had to complete a worksheet displaying their findings!

DeAsia loves the Cheetah Girls! So, she researched the Cheetah! She loved watching the videos about cheetahs!

Joyria did an excellent job on her animal research! She researched the dolphin!

La'Shawn loved working with these two boys! He worked so hard on his research project!

On Wednesday, Lucy, Enoch, and La'Shawn visited Ms. Adams' 2nd grade classroom for whole group reading time! They had a great time listening to Ms. Adams read!

On Thursday, Lucy and Joyria visited Ms. Matthews' 2nd grade classroom for whole group reading time! They had a great time in Ms. Matthews' room and loved participating in the reading activity!

Thanks so much to Ms. Frix, Ms. Adams, and Ms. Matthews for welcoming us to your classrooms. We had a wonderful time! Also thanks to all of their students for being so wonderful! We appreciate you all!

Our Friend Mrs. Z!

This week, we studied the letter Zz. Ms. Stowe came up with a wonderful idea to celebrate this letter. We all traced the letter Zz on construction paper, put tape on the back of it, and taped them all over Mrs. Z (the office secretary). Mrs. Z is a great friend of ours and she was such a great sport!

We Have Grown!!!

Oh Boy! We have grown!
Our class has gotten so BIG and we are so happy!

Today, everyone was at school so we decided to take our class picture! Aren't we a cute bunch? :-)

We are so proud of our little class. We welcome Aaron, Lucy, and our new friend Santoes! We look forward to a WONDERFUL rest of the year together!

Welcome Back Lucy!

We welcome Lucy back to our class!

Last week, Lucy moved back to our class. Lucy has a very special place in Ms. Malcom's heart because she was also in Ms. Malcom's class last year! Lucy works so hard in class. She is working hard to learn her sight words and letter sounds. Lucy is also the class helper. Her best friend in our class is La'Shawn. Lucy loves horses and is on the Special Olympics Equestrian team. We are so happy to have Lucy back in our class!

Welcome to Our Class Aaron!

We are so happy to welcome our new student, Aaron!

Aaron is a very sweet boy that moved into our class last week. We have had so much fun with him so far and he has already made so many friends. Enoch is his best friend in our class. Aaron loves to play on the playground. He is an awesome climber and has a wonderful time on the jungle gym. He also loves the Alphabet song! Aaron has a beautiful smile. We are so happy to have him in our class and look forward to a wonderful remainder of the year with him!

Happy Birthday Ms. Adams!

Well, by now you should know how excited we get about birthdays! We love birthdays! Last Wednesday was Ms. Adams' birthday. Ms. Adams is our Speech Therapist! So, students from three classes met in Ms. Malcom's room and traveled to Ms. Adams' room to wish her a Happy Birthday!

Ms. Adams was extremely shocked to see all of us (as you can tell by the look on her face)! Ms. Stowe played the accordion as all of us sang "Happy Birthday" to Ms. Adams! There was a room full!

We really enjoyed visiting with Ms. Adams, as we always do when we visit her in Speech Therapy!

After we sang "Happy Birthday", we presented Ms. Adams with a cake (thanks to Ms. Rendle and Ms. Miller). Ms. Adams shared her cake with us! Yum! Yum!

We love Ms. Adams and appreciate all that she does for us! We hope that she had an Amazing birthday!

The Pink Ladies!

On this day, all of us girls must have gotten the "Pink Memo"!!! We all showed up dressed in pink. I had to take this picture. Too funny!

You can call us "The Pink Ladies"! :-)

Happy Birthday Ms. Higdon!

Today we celebrated a very special birthday, Ms. Higdon's birthday!

Ms. Higdon was serenaded by Ms. Stowe (playing the accordion) and the rest of her friends in our class!



Then, Ms. Higdon opened her presents! La'Shawn sat beside her and helped her open all of her gifts. Ms. Higdon got a bracelet!

She also received a picture frame filled with special pictures from this school year!

After reading her cards, La'Shawn helped Ms. Higdon put them all back in their envelopes!

For the party, we decorated with beautiful pink, purple, and white balloons. Joyria was so happy and couldn't get enough of her balloons!

Enoch decided to use his balloons as a pillow! Too cute!

Ms. Higdon also received a "Happy Birthday" book from some of her friends at South Salem!

We had cupcakes and drink, which we greatly enjoyed!

Overall it was a wonderful day! We wish Ms. Higdon a very happy birthday! We love you Ms. Higdon!
