Swing Batter Batter!

Today we took the bat and ball out to the playground. We had a great time, as you can see from the pictures below!

Santoes was so funny! When Mrs. Stowe threw the ball for him to hat, he would close his eyes and move backwards while swinging! Too cute!

Lucy has quite a powerful swing! She plays for the Miracle League and is a great baseball player! Watch out Mrs. Stowe!

Jonathan's turn!

9/11 Ceremony!

Eight years ago, many lives were lost in the attacks on the World Trade Centers and Pentagon. It is hard to believe that it has been eight years. However, the memory of these events will remain in our thoughts forever. To commemorate Patriot's Day, our school had a 9/11 Ceremony on Friday morning. Below, are some pictures from the ceremony, which took place around the flag pole in front of our school!

Ms. Webb, our Music teacher, led the entire school is singing a few patriotic songs! We also had a chior, made up of many members of the school staff, sing!

Our own Mrs. Holland (on the far left) was recognized for her service in the United States Air Force. Mr. Higdon, Mrs. Higdon's husband (2nd on the right) was recognized for his service as a Police Officer. We give great Thanks to those that have served or continue to serve our country!

Our good friends from Dr. Morrison's class (next door to us) assisted the Color Guard from Newton High School in presenting and raising the flag!

There were so many children at the ceremony. Every class in the school participated! It was a beautiful sight!

God Bless the USA!

Studying the Flag!

On Friday, in honor of Patriot's Day, we studied the American flag. We learned that our flag has stripes and stars. We also made our own flags. Below, are some pictures of the students making their flags!

Proud to be an American!

A Little Free Time!

On Friday, our students earned a little "free" time. I am always interested to see what they will choose to do with their time. Below are a few pictures!
Tanayry, Eliana, and Santoes enjoyed reading books together in the Reading Center!

This is Santoes saying "Cheese"! Too cute!

Such a sweet picture of Eliana. She was sitting in Reading Center, reviewing her ABC's, and singing our letter sound song!

The Play Center!

La'Shawn also loves Reading Center!

Tanayry stopped to feed the baby! Cute!

Enoch loves this computer, where he can practice his letter sounds!

Joyria is quite the "suzy-homemaker". She always wants to dress up in the full chef ensemble!

It was so much fun watching everyone during "Free" Time!

Third Music Video from Your Teachers!

So... it's NO surprise that covering our mouths after a cough or sneeze is on the "Needs Improvement" list. After school on Wednesday, Mrs. Stowe and Ms. Malcom wrote a song about this issue. On Thursday afternoon, all of us teachers got together to record our 3rd music video! Ha! Ha! Enjoy! The kids sure do!

Making a Shape Pictograph!

Eliana and Tanayry have been working very hard in Math. Friday, they created a pictograph using shapes. Below are a few pictures from their hard work!

They both worked really hard and we were so proud of them!

Learning About our Five Senses!

Last week we learned about our Five Senses! We split up into five groups. Each group was given one of the five sense and had to present it to the rest of the class.
Mrs. Holland's group (Santoes and Tyler) had to find pictures of things that they could smell!

Mrs. Stowe's group (La'Shawn and Jonathan) had to find pictures of things that they could feel!

Lucy was in a group of her own. She had to find pictures of things that she could see!

Mrs. Higdon's group (Enoch and Joyria) had to find pictures of things that they could hear!

Ms. Malcom's group (Eliana and Tanayry) had to find pictures of things that they could taste!

All of our groups did a great job on their presentations! Way to go!

Special Olympics Skating!

For the past two weeks we have been going to Romp-n-Roll for Special Olympics Skating. The pictures below are from our trip last week!

The kids get very excited about our trips away from school, as you can see!

This is a great picture of Mrs. Stowe and DeAsia!

Jonathan and La'Shawn pose for a picture!

Uh-Oh! Santoes fell down! He is the funniest skater! He takes off really fast, sometimes loosing his skates in the process, and wipes out! :-)

Ms. Malcom helping Eliana and Enoch skate! They did a great job!

DeAsia is a great skater! She skates very fast!

Ms. Malcom helps Tanayry!

The South Salem group trying our best to do the Hokey Pokey! That was interesting!

La'Shawn got to work with Mrs. Reagan! He worked very hard!

This is how Ms. Malcom looked after skating! Ha! Ha!

Lucy and Ms. Malcom sharing a hug while waiting for the bus!

Santoes taking a bow!

Getting off of the bus once we arrived back at school!

We've been working very hard on learning to walk in a line! It looks like we've accomplished it!

We had a blast at Special Olympics Skating! It is so great to watch all of our students improve each week! We look forward to next week!
