I Can Read!

Since the beginning of school, we have been working on using our fingers to follow along in a story as we read. We were so excited to get out our funny "reading fingers" to practice!

We have also been practicing our comprehension skills. Tony and Hunter (below) tell the class what their story was about!

All of our students have made such wonderful progress in the first few weeks of school. We can't wait to watch them continue this trend for the remainder of the school year!

Pencil Sharpener Line!

One day, I was sitting at the back table working with a group when I looked up and saw this. Ha! Ha! It seems like we had a bunch of pencils that suddenly needed sharpening at the same time. There was quite the line at the pencil sharpener.

There is never a dull moment.  :-)

Our Favorite Baseball Teams!

At the end of our baseball unit, we were able to make pennants representing our favorite baseball teams! We had so much fun choosing our favorite teams and making our pennants!

Vocabulary BINGO!

 Everybody loves Vocabulary BINGO!

Coloring Books from Connecticut!

Each year, our class gets a very special visit from Mrs. Stowe's sister, Mrs. Lee. Mrs. Lee lives in Connecticut. Each time she comes down to visit Mrs. Stowe, she makes a very special visit to our classroom. At the beginning of this school year, Mrs. Lee sent us a package in the mail. This box was filled with awesome coloring books and pencils. We had so much fun picking out the coloring books and pencils that we wanted. Thank you so much Mrs. Lee!

Baseball Cards!

The first unit of our curriculum was about baseball. We loved this unit so much. We even got to make our own baseball cards. We used some of our new vocabulary and chose whether we wanted to be a pitcher, catcher, or batter. We put on our jersey and used our glove and bat to pose for our picture. They turned out great. Check them out below!

Learning the Rules!

Little Miss Jayda is the youngest student in our class this year. Even so, this sweet Kindergartener knows the rules of our classroom and school.  On this day, she said "Ms. Malcom... I got my bubble in my mouth". She was so proud to let me know that she was following the rules. So cute!

New School Year (2013-2014)!

It has been such a wonderful start to the school year. We have 13 students and 3 teachers this year. Santoes, Erica, Mettano, Camren, Marquis, Ava, Hunter, Tony, Dontavious, and Tanayry all returned and came back ready to learn. They have already made such wonderful progress in the first few weeks. We have three new students. Jayda, Latasha, and Kaylah have joined our "family" and we are really enjoying them. We also have a new paraprofessional this year. Mrs. Beckhom comes to us from Kindergarten. She was a substitute for many years and loved subbing in our class. We are so happy to have her!

We look forward to a wonderful rest of the year!
