A Great Day for a Concert on the Square!

After we went to McDonalds, we went to the Concert on the Square. It was a beautiful day to relax and listen to great music!

DeAsia and Enoch at the Concert on the Square!

La'Shawn got to sit in Mrs. Stowe's fancy beach chair! :-)

DeAsia took the opportunity for some serious relaxation! Ha! Ha!

I think this is a beautiful picture of Eliana!

Ms. Malcom and Tony pose for a picture!

A close up of La'Shawn!

La'Shawn and Tony had a great time playing with the toy cars that they got from McDonalds!

Ms. Malcom was so happy to see Blair, Ms. Kelli, and Mr. Russell show up to join us at the concert! Just in case you don't already know, Ms. Kelli is Ms. Malcom's sister! Mr. Russell is Ms. Malcom's brother-in-law. Blair is Ms. Malcom's neice! We love to have them visit our class!

Tony plays with Blair as Ms. Kelli and La'Shawn "catch up"!

DeAsia loves baby Blair and talks about her all the time in class! She was so excited to see her at the concert! She went up and immediately picked her up! She was so gentle!

DeAsia holding baby Blair!

What a wonderful day for a concert and a wonderful day to spend together! I just love these kiddos so much!

Our Trip to McDonalds!

Today, we went on our much anticipated trip to McDonalds! We were all so excited! Below, is a class picture at McDonalds! :-)

There was no one more excited about our trip to McDonalds than Joyria. We have heard "Ba da ba ba bum, I'm lovin' it" for the past few weeks!

DeAsia and Eliana decided to sit together at McDonalds!

Of course, La'Shawn and Lucy had to sit together. They are the best of friends!

I told you this girl was thrilled!

After we ate, everyone got the chance to play on the indoor playground!

A little later, we had hot fudge sundaes! Yum!

La'Shawn loved watching everyone play. He climbed up on the playground too!

Enoch was a little unsure at first! He couldn't decide whether or not he wanted to go up!

Mrs. Higdon loved her ice cream!

Oh look! Enoch made it up! Hey Enoch!

Mrs. Malcom even climbed inside the playground and slid down the slide!

One last attempt at a class picture!

We had a great time today!

Glee!

I have said it many times over the past five years. We are so lucky to have Mrs. Stowe's wonderful musical talent in our classroom! The students love it and she can "write" a song based on whatever it is that we are learning about! We often say that we have our own Glee Club in our class! :-)

The students look forward to Music Time with Mrs. Stowe each day!

Joyria's speciality is "You are My Sunshine"! If you haven't heard Joyria's solo, you are definitely missing out on something special!

Santoes' solo is "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"!

For the first time ever, Eliana wanted to get up and sing a solo last week! We were so proud!

Tony sang "The Alphabet Song" and did a wonderful job!

Thank you Mrs. Stowe for all that you offer to our class! :-)

Fun Fantastic Friday- Dirt Cups!

Judging by the smile on Tony's face, I am sure you can tell what day it is!

Yep... It's FUN FANTASTIC FRIDAY!!!! Lucy was the class STARfish last week. Therefore, she was the Teacher's Helper during the Fun Fantastic Friday activity!

Continuing with the topic of Habitats (which we've been learning about for the past few weeks), Ms. Malcom decided to make Dirt Cups!

Lucy was a GREAT helper (AKA- "Baker in Training")!

DeAsia decided to take her turn in stirring the sugar-free chocolate pudding that we would need for our Dirt Cups!

Then, we added whipped topping (sugar-free of course)! :-)

Enoch's job was to crush the graham crackers for the Dirt Cups!

After the cookies were crushed by Mrs. Higdon's table, Santoes was responsible for adding them to the pudding and whipped topping!

Ms. Malcom gave everyone a cup full of "dirt"!

Ms. Malcom.......... You are CAUGHT!

After our "dirt" was put in the refrigerator for one hour, we were able to add "worms"! The students LOVED this part of the activity! La'Shawn said "Ewww" over and over!

Our Dirt Cups were delicious!

The final product! Yum!

Habitats of Georgia!

For the past few weeks, in Science, we have been learning about the Habitats of Georgia. We began by learning where we live (Georgia) and the definition of a habitat. Then, we learned about each of the habitats in Georgia: the Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plain, Okefenokee Swamp, and Atlantic Ocean! As we learned about each habitat, we created a representation of it on a huge model of Georgia. We had a great time and learned so much!
Below are a few pictures of the students creating the Mountains! When we learned about the mountains of Georgia, we learned where they were located as well as what kinds of plants/ animals live there!

Below are a few pictures of our students creating the Piedmont. We learned that the Piedmont is where Covington is located. There are lots of pine trees there. There are also several more plants/ animals that live there!

Below are a few pictures of our students creating their representation of the Coastal Plains. We learned that the Coastal Plains are very sandy!

Our final product (model of Georgia) was so beautiful! We even got to hang it out in the hallway for all to see!

What a wonderful way to learn about the habitats of Georgia!
