In the Summertime...!!!

This video is of DeAsia singing "My Friends". She has such a beautiful voice! (You will want to pause the playlist on the right side of the blog so that you can hear the song)!

We have had an awesome school year. We hope that everyone has a wonderful, relaxing, safe Summer. We hope to see you all on August 3rd!

Love,
Ms. Malcom, Mrs. Higdon, and Mrs. Stowe

One Final UNO Game!

One thing that we learned this year was how to play UNO! UNO is great because it works on both color recognition and number recognition. Our students have gotten so good at playing and we usually sit down to play a game every Friday. So, on the last day of school we had to play one last game of UNO!

Santoes was very excited and gave a HUGE smile for the camera! He's so cute with his tooth missing!

Joyria and Lucy share a hug before the UNO game begins!

Santoes gets his UNO cards in order!

We waited to play UNO during our usual nap time! Therefore, Aaron wasn't to into playing the game! Ha! Ha!

I'm going to miss Enoch over the Summer! He is definitely a teacher's pet! They all are! :-)

This is one of those "I'm going to win" smiles! Beware!!

Well, Aaron didn't make it! We looked over and he was sleeping on his UNO cards! Too cute!

Of course DeAsia asked for multiple "sugars" during the game. This UNO game took longer than expected because she had to give Mrs. Stowe, Mrs. Higdon, and Ms. Malcom "sugars" before we could proceed with the game! Ha! Ha!

Smile!

It's amazing to think back to our first UNO game together! It was a disaster! This is just one example of how far our students have come this year! We are soooo proud of all of them!

Ice Cream Sundae Party!

On Friday, we joined Ms. Culpepper and Mrs. Ford's class for an End of the Year ice cream sundae party!

There were so many toppings to choose from!

I think Joyria is going to miss Enoch over the Summer!

DeAsia, Lucy, and La'Shawn had a great time at the party! They really enjoyed their ice cream sundaes!

Enoch loved his ice cream sundae too!

Santoes chose every topping for his ice cream sundae!

It was a GREAT way to end the 2008-2009 school year! We were so glad to get to spend this time with our friends from Ms. Culpepper and Mrs. Ford's class! Thanks for inviting us!

Summer Safety!

On Friday, Mrs. Stowe gave her Annual Summer Safety Lesson! Ha! Ha! This is Ms. Malcom's favorite lesson of the year. It is so funny! Mrs. Stowe gives the students Summer Safety tips and examples (from her own life) of why we should follow those tips! :-)
Check out Aaron's hands (in the blue shirt below)!! He seems to LOVE Mrs. Stowe's lesson! Ha! Ha!

Mrs. Stowe giving her Summer Safety tip about using using sunscreen and hats!

Santoes demonstrating how we should keep our legs safe from the sun! :-)

Mrs. Higdon and DeAsia discussing one of the Summer Safety tips!

Joyria demonstrates how to protect your face from the sun!

Ms. Kelli even made it for our Summer Safety lesson! Santoes was very excited to see her!

As usual, Mrs. Stowe gave a very entertaining Summer Safety lesson! Thanks Mrs. Stowe!

End of the Year Cookout!

On Thursday, the day before the last day of school, we had an End of the Year Cookout for all of the Exceptional Children at South Salem Elementary. It was a ton of fun!
Below, Joyria, Aaron, Lucy, Trevor, and La'Shawn wait patiently for their food!

There was a ton of food! We had hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, and cole slaw (donated from Frank's). We also had potato chips, cookies, cupcakes, and a variety of drinks!

Yum! Yum!

Santoes loved being outside for the party! Look at his mouth! He lost his 1st tooth! Awww...

Ms. Higdon enjoyed her Cheetos!

Mrs. Watson's husband brought this huge grill where he cooked the hot dogs and hamburgers! They were delicious!

Ms. Malcom took Aaron and Enoch back for seconds! Ha! Ha!

We had a GREAT time at our End of the Year Cookout! Thanks to Frank's restaurant for donating most of the food! Thanks to Mrs. Watson for putting the Cookout together. Thanks to Mrs. Watson's husband for bringing the grill and cooking all of the delicious hot dogs and hamburgers. Thanks to all of the parents that donated food and to all of the helpers for making the Cookout possible!
