Field Day Fun!

Last Thursday, we participated in South Salem's first Field Day! It was so much fun, as you will see from the pictures below!

Aaron played the ring toss and was actually very good at it!

Enoch also decided to give the ring toss a try! He opted to walk up to it and ring it instead of throw it! :-)

Joyria put a new spin to the game of horseshoes! Ha! Ha! Those children in Ms. Malcom's class know how to win!

All year, Coach Sloop has been trying to get DeAsia to give him a "five". She never would. At field day, she was so excited to see him. She gave him a "five" and asked him for "sugars"! This team (Mrs. Higdon, Enoch, and Santoes) has to be the one with the most enthusiasm! Enoch would do something, Mrs. Higdon would cheer, Santoes would watch Mrs. Higdon, and then Santoes would break out into a loud cheer! Precious!

DeAsia was in Ms. Malcom's group! She was very loving, stopping every few minutes to give Ms. Malcom a hug!

Ms. Jodi, our good friend, came by to help out with Field Day! We sure do love Ms. Jodi and enjoy her company! Thanks Ms. Jodi for taking time out of your week to come and spend the day with us!

This had to be the funniest race, the three-legged race! Mrs. Higdon and Enoch tied their legs together, Ms. Jodi and Joyria tied their legs together, and Ms. Malcom and Aaron tied their legs together. When the parent volunteer said "Go", we were off!

Mrs. Higdon was brave enough to try the three-legged race AGAIN!! She and Santoes tied their legs together and ran really fast!

Mrs. Stowe and La'Shawn also participated in the three-legged race! They put their own twist to it! They tied their arms together. How sweet!

Aaron loved the bouncing ball relay! Ms. Malcom tried to tell him that he was supposed to sit ON the ball but he had his own agenda! :-)

Mrs. Stowe even took out time to participate in Field Day!

Lucy did a great job on the ball sweeping relay! Way to Go Lucy!

Field day was so much fun! Thanks to Coach Sloop, Mrs. Mask, all of the Parent Volunteers, and Ms. Jodi for making Field Day a great success! As you can see, we had a blast!

Another Kite Day!

Last week it was very windy. So, we decided to take our kites out for another try!

Enoch was very excited to try out the Elmo kite!

Mrs. Higdon tried out the Spiderman kite!

Aaron LOVED being outside! I love his smile in this picture!

Mrs. Stowe and Enoch finally got the Elmo kite up in the sky!

Santoes loved running with his kite!

So much so that he got very tangled up in it! :-)

La'Shawn had a good time watching all of the kites in the sky. He kept saying "Whoooo"!

This was a fun day and a great time spent together!!

Too Cute!

I had to share this picture! I think that it is too cute! La'Shawn looked so studious in his green sweater vest. How cute!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!
We just wanted to wish all the mothers of our students (past and present) a very HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! You all are the best of the best! We appreciate all that you do for your children and all of the hard work that you put in to making them the best that they can be! We also appreciate you sharing your children with us and all of the support that you give us! We definitely love them just as much as you do!
Enjoy YOUR day!
Love,
Ms. Malcom, Mrs. Higdon, and Mrs. Stowe

The Three Little Pigs!

Last week we studied the famous story, The Three Little Pigs. After reading the story and watching the story on the ActivBoard, we broke into groups to work on building our own houses similar to the ones that the three pigs built! First we had to go outside to collect our supplies (straw, sticks, and rocks). Then we came back and began working on our houses!
Mrs. Stowe's group (with Santoes and Lucy) was assigned to building a house of straw!

Mrs. Higdon's group (with Enoch and Joyria) was assigned to building a house of sticks!

Santoes greatly enjoyed this activity!

Ms. Malcom's group (with La'Shawn and Aaron) was assigned to building a house of brick (or rock)!

That's one fancy stick house that Mrs. Higdon's group is building. Ms. Adams, our Speech Therapist, even stopped by to check it out!

Mrs. Stowe's group build one interesting straw house! They worked very hard on it!

Aaron helps put the finishing touches on his group's brick (rock) house!

This was a fun activity and we really enjoyed it!

Special Olympics Awards Ceremony!

On Thursday, April 30th, we had our Special Olympics Awards Ceremony at Turner Lake. We had a great time! Each student, that participated in Special Olympics, recieved a trophy. Door prizes were also given out to the winning ticket!

Lucy and La'Shawn pose for a picture as they wait for the ceremony to begin!

Ms. Malcom and Aaron do the same!

Santoes really enjoyed getting his award, as you can tell from the BIG smile!

Joyria made everyone giggle when she got her award, held it up high, and said "Yay"!

Enoch also loved his trophy!

After the Awards Ceremony we enjoyed a picnic lunch, with Ms. Culpepper's class!

Then, we went to the lake to feed the ducks! La'Shawn laughed so hard when the ducks ate the bread!

DeAsia also enjoyed watching the ducks. She kept pointing to them and saying "That's a duck"!

After a great picnic lunch and a visit with the ducks, we all walked to the playground. Some of us (Santoes) were very worn out and just relaxed at the bottom of the slide!

Lucy had a great time sliding and playing with her friends from Ms. Malcom's class and Ms. Culpepper's class!

La'Shawn really enjoyed playing on the slide with Mrs. Stowe!

It was definitely a fun and exciting day! Once again, we are so proud of all of our athletes! Way to Go!
